Another day, another Groupon. This time, I had a soon-expiring offer to 5 & Diner. After checking hours through Yelp, I called in a to-go order. The lady who took my order did have a little “sas” in her voice. But I knew to expect that, as Groupon wears on the even the most hardy employee. By the time the expiration date finally comes round, these employees know first hand the meaning of “atlas shrugged”.
After picking up my order (with a few more snarky comments by the waitress), I headed home. Being from Texas, I ordered the Big Texan, a 1/2 lbs burger served with cheddar cheese, bacon, onion rings, and BBQ sauce on Texas toast. Here’s a side view:
It came with “meh” soggy fries and a pickle. Altogether, it was only okay. Nothing stood out as particularly “great” or “awful”.
Overall, their shake was the best thing I had that night.
